The accrued 10% salary increase effective January 1, 2024 will be paid with those for April. The Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev today signed orders to increase the basic salaries of servicemen and civilian employees of the Ministry of Defense, the structures directly subordinated to the Minister of Defense and the Bulgarian Army. This was announced by the press center of the ministry.
In order to pay the increase, 80% of the secured 180 million BGN from the defense budget will be spent during the year. The remaining 20% will be allocated for rewards, in accordance with the results of the ongoing Strategic Review of Defense Policy, as a priority for: filling the declared formations with a high degree of readiness; positions with deficient specialties in the armed forces; increasing the remuneration of IT specialists in the information sphere with duties for development, preliminary research, adaptation, implementation, training, parallel processing and maintenance of software; to increase the additional remuneration for language skills.
The consistent policy of increasing the income of people in the defense is aimed at increasing interest in military service and retaining motivated and highly qualified specialists in the “Defence” sector.
