Every Sunday, from noon to 1 p.m., The world joins forces with France Inter to host and broadcast the program “Political Questions”, presented by Thomas Snégaroff, with Carine Bécard (France Inter), Jeff Wittenberg (France TV), Claire Gatinois (The world). The guest of this Sunday, May 8 was Jean-Luc Mélenchon, deputy of La France Insoumise (LFI) for Bouches-du-Rhône.
Asked about his priority if he were to be appointed Prime Minister, namely ecology or equality, Mr. Mélenchon estimated that “the most direct path to ecology is equality”.
“The natural order teaches us that we are fundamentally alike. And if we are similar, we are equal in rights. (…) Equality is my driving force. Balance and harmony with nature is the horizon. »

No “cacophony of France about a war”
What would be the voice of France in the conflict in Ukraine in the event of cohabitation between Emmanuel Macron and Jean-Luc Mélenchon? In this regard, the elected representative of Bouches-du-Rhône refused to comment on the decisions already taken by the President of the Republic on behalf of “the interest of France”.
He also also said that there would be no discord within the executive couple, if he were to settle in Matignon. In terms of defence, and on the war in Ukraine in particular, “France will speak with one voice”specified the deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône, who repeated that, “presumably”he would not be a candidate in the legislative elections.
“Nobody in Europe can count on the cacophony of the French about a war,” he said. So those who say to themselves “oh well, maybe it’s going to be a mess with the French” are wasting their time. France will act, decide, intervene. President Macron did what he believed needed to be done and I see no point in commenting on that now. »

“When we are in a crisis like a war, we stick together”he said. “I am not in favor of climbing. I have heard President Macron also say on several occasions that he is not in favor of escalation. (…) Therefore, we will find what is best to do in terms of de-escalation because I understood that it was also from the President of the Republic and our common interest ”he argued.
