In Charleston, Boeing is relaunching the 787 Dreamliner

REPORT – The American giant plans to double the long-haul assembly capacity, by opening a second line.

In North Charleston

Beneath the gigantic hangar, assembling the planes is almost like a game. At one end, five pristine white fuselage sections are lined up, then joined together to form the body of an aircraft. Added to this are the wings and fins, then the engines, landing gear and interior equipment. At the other end of the huge assembly line, the giant doors open to let out a plane ready to take off for its first test flights.

Factory Boeing of North Charleston, which opened in 2011, on the East Coast of the United States, and where all 787 Dreamliners are now assembled, produces four aircraft per month. A second assembly line is being installed, which will double its production capacity for the three versions of the Dreamliner.

Instead of the din of a factory, the hum of air conditioning is almost the only audible noise in this huge room. The immaculate soils where are indicated…
