In honor of the President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Hungary, an official lunch was given on behalf of the President of Hungary Katalin Novak.

At the start of the official lunch, the President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan awarded the Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary Zholt Scheimen with the Medal of Gratitude for his contribution to the strengthening and development of Armenian-Hungarian relations.

The presidents spoke with each other and appreciated bilateral relations and high-level cooperation.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan’s speech.

“Let me express my deep gratitude for the warm welcome shown to me and the Armenian delegation. I am glad that we have the opportunity to continue our conversation in such an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

This official visit at the level of the President is a clear evidence of our mutual interest in continuously developing and moving our bilateral cooperation to a new level. It will certainly promote the centuries-old ties between our peoples and will be the basis for the dynamic development of multi-sectoral cooperation.

Our peoples are connected by many threads that have been woven since time immemorial. Over the centuries, Armenians who found refuge in Hungary have proven their loyalty to the host country, received privileges and noble titles, including from Empress Maria Theresa.

1848-1849 a large number of Armenian officers participated in the anti-Austrian liberation struggle. Two of the thirteen martyrs of Arad sentenced to death, Lieutenant General Erno Kish and Colonel Vilmosh Lazar, were of Armenian origin.

The rich cultural heritage of the peoples occupies its unique place in our relations. Hungarian culture has been enriched by cultural figures of Armenian origin, including writers Gergey Chik, Istvan Petele, artist Shimon Hollos, this series can be continued for a long time.

One thing is obvious: the friendship of the Armenian and Hungarian peoples has hardened over the centuries, passed through difficult trials, giving many examples of devotion and loyalty.

We share the same universal values, striving for international security, peace, sovereignty, believing in the power of tolerance.

Madam President,

We believe that your country and many countries with which we have common cultural and Christian values will support our just cause and help Armenia on the way to achieve lasting peace and cooperation in the region, which should be anchored in the principles of equality, sovereignty and freedom of all the peoples of the region. on

During the meetings held within the framework of my official visit to Hungary, I referred to the spirit of relations between our peoples and the best traditions of friendship. I also reaffirmed the readiness of the Armenian side to deepen the cooperation between the two countries by effective means.”
