The incident happened on Sunday morning. Punyavel’s house is next to the shop. When he heard the noise, he came out and saw the elephant breaking the shop and eating the food. Punyavel said that he tried to drive away by making a loud noise, but the elephant came forward to attack.
He said that this is the 16th attack on his shop in 15 years. The elephant also broke the treadmill inside the shop. The elephants were chased away by locals and the RRT team.
