A significant escape… In the greatest discretion. Eleven men, awaiting deportation to their country of origin, escaped this Monday, around 7 a.m., from the Administrative Detention Center (CRA) of Vincennes, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris.

According to the police headquarters, which confirms the information on the site Actu 17, the detainees forced a window and cut the protective mesh before fleeing, without the escape being immediately detected. “The disappearance of the eleven men was only reported at 9 a.m.,” underlines the prefecture, “because the alarm was not triggered. » The fugitives are actively sought around the CRA and beyond. The security of the site was immediately reinforced.

Fires two days before

The group’s escape was preceded, on Saturday around 10:30 p.m., by a first event: arson of mattresses in a room in the detention center, which required the peaceful evacuation of the detainees housed there, before the intervention of the firefighters. The fire was brought under control without difficulty and the occupants were able to return to the premises.

Tensions, escapes and escape attempts are recurrent at the Vincennes CRA. On November 11, eight men managed to escape at 2 a.m., after digging a hole in the ceiling of their room using a loose window bar. This time, the alarm had sounded, allowing immediate intervention. But only two men, who tried to join the group of escapees, were able to be arrested.
