In response to the subject’s firearm detonations, the officers repelled the aggression, stated Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) officials after a violent 2026 operation in Iztapalapa.

Police Pursue and Arrest Suspect in Iztapalapa

Elements of the SSC apprehended Alan Rafael Ávila Ramírez, a 20-year-old known as “El Chopercito” — also called Alan Ávila or Alan Rafael ‘N’ according to reporteaguila.mx, Excelsior, and zocalo.com.mx — following a high-speed vehicle pursuit on November 3, 2026.

Police tracked the suspect in the aftermath of a homicide committed the previous day. Upon noticing law enforcement in the area, the suspect attempted to flee in a gray Seat equipped with Volkswagen GTI wheels.

Monitorists at the Centro de Comando y Control (C2) Oriente tracked the vehicle via street cameras until officers intercepted the car at street 41 and avenue 8 in the Santa Cruz Meyehualco neighborhood.

During the getaway attempt, the suspect fired upon the pursuing officers and struck multiple individuals with his vehicle. A police officer, a 33-year-old motorcyclist stopped at an intersection, and a 26-year-old woman sustained injuries during the operation.

After ending the chase, authorities conducted a preventive search and recovered a semiautomatic Springfield XD pistol containing a magazine and two live rounds, Infobae reported. Zocalo.com.mx noted that the individual was additionally signaled as a presunto sicario.

Investigating Prior Homicides in the Capital

Information cross-referencing by the agency connected the detainee to at least 10 homicide cases across Iztapalapa. Security sources noted that the individual is tied to killings targeting members of “Los Richis”, a local gang operating in Iztapalapa and Tláhuac involved in drug sales, extortion, kidnapping, robbery, and homicides (with zocalo.com.mx specifying that the 10 homicides were directed against members of that band).

Investigators also linked him to a murder committed in the Renovación neighborhood a day prior to his arrest. The list of attributed killings also includes the death of Alberto on November 13, and the killing of Karla on December 30, 2024.

Reporting noted that the victim in the latter case was attacked in the La Progresista neighborhood while waiting for her food order at a hamburger stand. Two individuals aboard motorcycles fired 10 shots at her after threats from the gang.

The investigative dossier extends back to 2024. This record includes the killings of Isaac El Mate (identified as Isaac ‘N’ by reporteaguila.mx and zocalo.com.mx) on May 19, 2024, and Yeremi (or Yeremi ‘N’) on May 21, 2024.
