Andrey Kutepov, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, has developed a bill to increase the time for car repairs under OSAGO from 30 to 45 days. About it informs TASS with reference to a copy of the document sent to Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Russian Government Staff Dmitry Grigorenko.

The explanatory note notes that under the sanctions, car repair dealers, service stations and insurance companies are faced with a shortage of spare parts and a break in supply chains. In this regard, repairs on time “become difficult to execute,” the author of the bill claims.

The bill clarifies that now the time to restore the car should not exceed 30 days. The senator draws attention to the fact that the terms of repair, among other things, affect the fulfillment of their obligations by insurance companies. In case of violation of the terms, penalties are charged. In the current situation, due to the inability to meet the deadline of 30 days, insurers are forced to terminate contracts with service stations, the document says.

TASS writes that Kutepov sent another bill to the government, which provides for the division of the repair and delivery of spare parts for the period until December 31, 2024. The senator proposes to consider two options for extending the repair period for cars.

The initiative to increase the period of car repair under OSAGO up to 45 days was previously supported by Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev, wrote “News”. The Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA) noted that such a measure would increase the proportion of cars that are repaired under OSAGO, but will not solve the problem completely. They proposed to allow the use of refurbished parts that do not affect road safety, for example, the rear and front bumpers.
