After finishing his visit to Turkey, the Iranian Foreign Minister will land in Syria during the day and discuss with senior government officials the strengthening of ties between the countries

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdallahian, will arrive today (Thursday) in Damascus, the capital of Syria. The Syrian newspaper Alotan reports that Abd Allahian will land in Damascus after a visit to Turkey and will discuss with Syrian officials the strengthening of ties between the two countries and the latest developments in the region related to the expected meeting that will include the foreign ministers of Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey.

The visit comes against the backdrop of continued Iranian attempts to smuggle weapons into Syria, which are mostly foiled according to foreign publications through night strikes by the IDF, which destroys the goods on their way into Syria.

In the meantime, Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Faisal bin Farhan, says that the acceleration of contacts with Syria will pave the way for its return to the Arab League.

However, Ben Farrakhan pointed out that it is too early to discuss this step. The Saudi minister emphasized that the agreement is growing in the Arab world, that isolating Syria is not helpful and the dialogue with Damascus is necessary to address the humanitarian situation in the country.

Saudi Arabia is supposed to host the Arab Summit this year, and in response to the question of whether Syria will be invited to the summit, the Saudi Foreign Minister replied: “I believe it is still too early to talk about it.”
