Is “Solitaire” ultimately a journey through your own life?
Through my own life and also through observations, but it is very much autobiographical and real. The most personal number is “Josef”, which I dedicated to my father, who unfortunately passed away. I haven’t shared the topic publicly yet, but I always knew I wanted to write a song for him. Life also includes death, which is an important feature of this album. When I got the beat from my producer, it was a special moment because it really touched me. It felt totally natural and authentic and I knew it fit. This is real and this is me – this is “Josef”. It quickly became clear from the feeling that I had found this color of my life beautifully. I learned to trust my gut feeling and not think too much about it because it fell into place perfectly. The song is very intimate, but not over the top.
