Régis Mathieu is a chandelier in the Lubéron. He took over the family home to restore exceptional chandeliers.

In the heart of the Luberon, in former ocher factories, exceptional chandeliers are restored for the greatest palaces in the world. Régis Mathieu, chandelier, installs a 19th century chandelier in a cathedral in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). He had been sleeping for more than thirty years in the reserves. His know-how, Régis Mathieu develops it in Gargas (Vaucluse), where he has set up his workshop. He took over the house founded by his father to focus on the world of luxury and 90% of his orders come from abroad.

Versatility in the job

The chandelier renovated the chandeliers of the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles (Yvelines), but also those of the Opéra Garnier in Paris. The same know-how is used for chandeliers from the 16th century or for contemporary pieces. “It is this versatility in the exercise that is magnificent”, observes Théo Poudavigne, bronze fitter. He has just restored the chandelier to the knight, in bronze, made more than 400 years ago. To share his passion, Régis Mathieu has opened a museum to present his most beautiful pieces.
