The (INA) publishes the most important points of the cooperation framework agreement in the field of water between Iraq and Turkey.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the (INA) that “the framework agreement for cooperation in the field of water between Iraq and Turkey aims to develop ways of understanding and cooperation in the water sector, on the principle of equality, good intentions, and good neighborliness, and to develop a new vision for implementing infrastructure projects.” Infrastructure and investment of water resources in Iraq.
He added that the agreement was based on a vision aimed at fair and equitable allocation of cross-border water, and setting a vision for using water in a rational and effective manner.
He continued, “The agreement included cooperation through joint projects to improve water management in the Tigris and Euphrates basins, and inviting Turkish companies to cooperate in infrastructure for irrigation projects such as water harvesting systems and dams, lining canals, installing filtration and desalination plants, and water treatment projects,” pointing out that ” Emphasis was placed on implementing projects to exchange experiences and use modern and packaged irrigation systems and technologies.”
He stated that “the implementation of the agreement will last for 10 years, and will be automatically extended for one year each time after the two parties agree.”
