An investigation by the Indian Income Tax Department began on Tuesday night at the Indian offices of international media house BBC. They were held with the explanation that we were only conducting a ‘survey’ and not a study. Income tax officials were camped day and night in the 2 offices of the BBC in Delhi and Mumbai.
In this regard, the BBC said, ‘We are fully cooperating with the investigation by the Income Tax Department. Our work will continue, not against or on behalf of anyone. Except for a few senior officials of the media company, everyone else has been advised to work from home.
The Income Tax Department, which collected digital data from BBC offices, also searched the media houses’ computers and mobile phones. The continuous search was completed last night where Income Tax officials also stayed there for a long night. After this, it seems that various information including test details will be released today by the Income Tax Department.
