South Africa did not have a good start. Janakman Malan (1), who scored a century in the last match, was dismissed by Deepak Chahar in the third over. Then in the seventh over, Temba Bauma (8) was run out. Chahar then returned Aiden Markrat (15) in the 13th over.

De Kok and Dassan then combined for 144 for the fourth wicket to put Proteas back in contention.
