Port of Spain: India won the second ODI against West Indies by two wickets. Akshar Patel played aggressively and scored 64 runs off 35 balls. With this victory, the Indian team won the series 2-0.

The Indian cricket team is touring the West Indies and playing a cricket series. Both the teams are currently playing a multi-Test series in the three-match ODI series. The second ODI of the series was played at the Cricket Ground in Port of Spain.

India chased down the target of victory by scoring 312 runs. India won by scoring 312 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 49.4 balls. Dhawan scored 13 runs, Gill scored 43 runs and Suryakumar Yadav scored 9 runs. So India stumbled by losing three wickets for 79 runs.

However, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson put on a partnership of 99 runs. Shreyas scored 63 runs off 71 balls. Samson was dismissed for 54 runs. Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel then put on a partnership of 51 runs. Hooda was out for 33 runs.

Then the Indian team needed 56 runs to win. India on the other hand had lost 6 wickets. Axar played responsibly till the end and led the team to victory. He sealed the victory by hitting a six off the fourth ball of the last over. He scored 64 runs off 35 balls. His innings included 3 fours and 5 sixes. In between, Thakur and Avesh Khan lost their wickets.

Axar Patel won the man of the match award. He also took one wicket in this match. With this win, India have clinched the series with one match remaining in the 3-match series.

Earlier, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and elected to bat. The team batted first and scored 311 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 50 overs. The team’s opener Shai Hope scored a century. He got out after scoring 115 runs.

Captain Pooran scored 74 runs. Gayle Meyers scored 39 runs and Brooks scored 35 runs. Thakur took three wickets for the Indian team. Sahal, Axar Patel and Deepak Hooda took one wicket each.
