Mumbai: Following the defeat in the South African series (SA vs IND), the selectors announced the Indian team for the ODI, T20 series against the West Indies (IND vs WI) at home, with many leaving and some returning. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoy is one of the players who came to the team as a surprise. All-rounder Deepak Hooda has also been named in the ODI squad.
Similarly, when Kuldeep Yadav made a comeback after a long absence, Rohit Sharma returned as captain. Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has come out with the question of why no one said anything about the two players who were in the Indian team a few months back, though many left and some returned.
Chopra’s question about Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Chahar who played for India in the T20 World Cup. I understand that Ashwin, who played in the series against South Africa, is resting due to injury. The BCCI has not yet commented on the matter. Similarly, the selectors did not say anything about Varun Chakraborty and Rahul Chahar who were in the team a few months back. Truth be told, we do not even know where they are. I do not know if they are frozen.
However, Aakash Chopra said he was happy to have Ravi Bishnoi in the team. Surprisingly, the selectors did not say a word about Rahul Chahar. Chahar, who played in the T20 World Cup squad, missed the series that followed. He was said to have been ruled out due to injury. But he did not say anything about it later.
Deepak Hooda was sometimes included in the team because he could be used as an off-spinner. Ishant Kishan is still not in the ODI team. The selectors picked them all up a few months ago. Aakash Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel that the selectors were announcing that they would not support him. Chopra said that Ravi Bishnoi has been included in the team but after one or two matches, he should not look like Rahul Chahar.
