China has recently conducted live fire drills with its anti-aircraft missiles in Xinjiang adjacent to the Indian border. During this period, China practiced with various types of air defense and anti-missile systems. China’s state media Global Times has also released a video of this exercise, in which a missile is shown being launched. This missile looks like the Chinese HQ-9, although Global Times has not mentioned its name in its report. India has deployed Rafale aircraft purchased from France at Ambala in Haryana and Hasimara airbase in West Bengal.

What did Global Times tell?

How powerful is China’s HQ-9?

The missiles fitted in China’s HQ-9 air defense system can destroy any target in the air up to a distance of 200 kilometers. China claims this air defense system to be equivalent to America’s Patriot and Russia’s S-300 defense system. It is equipped with active radar homing surface to air missiles. The HQ-9 system uses the HT-233 PESA radar system to detect enemy aerial targets. This air defense system mainly comes in three types. HQ-9 is also equipped with two-stage missiles similar to the S-300 system. This missile is equipped with 180 kg of explosives.

Why is China worried about India’s Rafale?

China has been worried about India’s Rafale fighter aircraft since the beginning. Rafale fighter aircraft has proven its skills in many battlefields of the world. This is the reason why countries all over the world are standing in line in front of France to buy Rafale. In the event of a war with China, this fighter aircraft can launch a massive attack on Chinese positions in the forward areas of Ladakh. At the same time, experts from all over the world have raised questions about the J-20 aircraft promoted by China as its fighter. He believes that J-20 is a 4.5 generation aircraft.
