The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the two-match Test series against India. Wicket keeper batsman Zaker Ali Anik has been called up as a new face.
BCB announced the team in a statement on Thursday (September 12). Pacer Shariful Islam did not get a place in the Test team. Zaker was replaced by a batsman. Other than that there is no change.
Zaker Ali has consistently performed well in first class. He scored 2,862 runs in 49 matches with 4 centuries at an average of 41.47. He also played an excellent innings of 172 runs against Pakistan ‘A’ team for this team last month.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is not getting the services of Shariful, who suffered from a groin injury. Along with Taskin Ahmed, there are Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed as pacers. Shakib Al Hasan’s partner in spin is Taijul Islam and Mehdi Hasan Miraj.
The Test series will begin on September 19 in Chennai. Then the second Test of the series will be held in Kanpur on September 27. The Bangladesh team will fly on September 15. Test series will be followed by T20 series. There will be three matches of the T20 series on October 6, 9 and 12 in Gwalior, Delhi and Hyderabad.
