Why does Taiwan need workers?

Taiwan is famous for the production of semiconductors all over the world. But, this country is struggling with increasing population. Presently shelters around 700000 migrant workers. These workers are mainly citizens of Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. Many of these workers work as construction laborers or as caregivers for the elderly.
