Indian football clubs under the shadow of match-fixing controversy; CBI has started investigation

New Delhi: CBI investigation against five clubs in Indian football match-fixing scandal. The CBI visited the All India Football Federation headquarters in Delhi and conducted an inspection. The CBI has informed that the investigation is focused on the I League teams.

The investigation has been started in connection with international match-fixing agent Wilson Raj Perumal. The CBI has received information that Wilson, who is based in Singapore, has invested crores in five Indian clubs. Information about the clubs has not been released. The I-League teams are under suspicion. Indications are that Indian Arrows, which was an AIFF club, is also in the group. CBI sought explanation from all five clubs.

The contract with the players, sponsors, foreign players, employees of the technical department and other information have been asked to be submitted. AIFF Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran said that the clubs have been asked to cooperate with the investigation. He said the federation would not compromise in any way with match-fixing and would cooperate with the investigation.
