Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has called upon the businessmen and entrepreneurs of this sector to produce fire safety and security products in the country.
The Minister of Industry made this call at a seminar titled ‘Investment and trade potential in the fire safety sector in Bangladesh’ at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital on Sunday (February 18).
He said that with the expansion of trade and industry in the country, the issue of fire safety and security has become important nowadays. Along with this, the market for fire extinguishers and safety equipment is growing. In such a situation, industries in this sector should be set up in the country to reduce import dependence and increase their share in the local market. The Ministry of Industry and the Government will cooperate fully in this regard.
At that time, the entrepreneurs drew the attention of the government to establish a separate industrial city for the fire safety sector like the leather industrial city located in Savar.
Federation of Bangladesh Industry and Chamber of Commerce (FBCCI) Senior Vice President Md. Amin Helali said that fire safety in residential and commercial buildings is very important now. To ensure availability of quality fire safety materials there is no alternative to setting up factories in this industry in the country.
In addition to the local market, Amin Helali also highlighted the export potential of this sector and said that FBCCI will provide all kinds of support to the entrepreneurs of the fire safety industry in setting up factories at the local level.

It should be noted that more than a hundred organizations from 30 countries of the world have participated in the International Fire Safety and Security Expo 2024. Who are showcasing the latest products and technologies in fire safety and security. The exhibition will continue till February 19. The exhibition will be open for visitors daily from 11 am to 8 pm.
