The president of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Guadalupe Taddeiindicated that he hopes that the situation of blackouts in the country and, although in the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) “fraud is impossible”, did not rule out some type of eventuality due to lack of electricity.
He pointed out that in the face of blackouts “absolutely no unforeseen events can ever be ruled out, the technology is like that, we trust 100% that is the validation that will be done, first the resistance of the system will be taken care of and then the energy supply and there is always what is not planned.”

He stated that the lack of energy in various parts of the country “is a novelty from yesterday and today that we hope will be corrected and that they will tell us that we are firm (…) measures are also being taken for alternative emergency plants,” he said.
The president advisor added: “let’s think that it will be resolved and that these blackouts that we had are due to these heat waves for which we are not fully prepared and with the arrival of the Cold Front it will slow down and if not, then measures will be taken of prevention”.
In a press conference, the president of the electoral body stated that the INE has contracted emergency power plants, which will be tested in drills, so the operation of the PREP is guaranteed.
For her part, Sofía Isabel Ramírez, member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Preliminary Electoral Results Program, said that the INE is prepared with such emergency plants that would protect the operation of the PREP while they are short-term blackouts “like those that have occurred.” “, and stated that, in the event that “the electricity outages are prolonged, we would already be talking about another eventuality.”
The INE contracted 100 emergency plants to operate during the election day of June 2, most of them to the Federal Electricity Commission for an amount of up to 20 million pesos.
In turn, the president of the INE pointed out that the arrival of a Cold Front is expected in the coming days, so this could reduce high temperatures and reduce the possibility of effects on the National Electrical System.

He stated that there is already contact with CFE directors to guarantee the energy supply during election day.
For their part, members of the PREP scientific committee indicated that three simulations will be carried out and that the operation of this program is protected and it is impossible for fraud to occur, because the data is stored in the cloud and is redundant; That is, they are stored even in other parts of the world.
For his part, counselor Jaime Rivera said that there is no way to commit fraud in the PREP, even if there are blackouts, and in the event that there were some violation it would be “useless”, since it is a preliminary system and without legal effect. Well, that corresponds to the district counts, which are also shielded and monitored by the parties.
