This morning, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published the data corresponding to inflation in Mexico after the first half of April, the information indicates a new increase in the annual record, placing it at 4.63 percent.
Let us remember that during the second half of March, annual inflation stood at 4.42 percent, having an increase in the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) of 0.29 percent.
For this first half of April, the INPC presented a variation of 0.09 percent compared to the previous fortnight. The INEGI also detailed that in the same fortnight, but in 2023, the biweekly inflation was -0.16% and the annual inflation was 6.24 percent.

In the statement shared by the institute, it was mentioned that, once again, a new sample of establishments has not yet been selected and products to obtain the prices of the consumer price index basket in Acapulco and it is unknown until when it will be included again.
It was also mentioned that the underlying price index increased by 0.16, while the non-underlying price index registered a drop of 0.12%both during this biweekly period.
Finally, the prices of agricultural products rose 1.68 percent and those for energy and tariffs authorized by the government fell by around 1.66 percent. This was mainly due to adjustments in electricity rates due to the warm season that occurred in 17 cities in the country.
