Inflation in Mexico reaches 4.98% in June; this is the fourth month of acceleration

The inflation general annual in Mexico of the month of June was located in 4.98%which adds up to four months of acceleration.

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) pshowed an increase of 0.38% compared to May.

With this, June inflation stands at 4.98%; in the same month of 2023, inflation was 5.06%.

Inflation in Mexico in June reaches 4.98%

In June 2024, the INPC showed an increase of 0.38% compared to the previous month, this means that the Annual general inflation during the month of June was 4.98%.

He underlying price index increased 0.22% at monthly rate and 4.13% annual rate, Meanwhile he non-core price index registered a monthly increase of 0.87% and 7.67% annual.

It should be noted that within the underlying index, at a monthly rate, the pcommodity prices rose 0.18% and services, 0.27 percent.

On the other hand, within the non-core index, at a monthly rate, the prices of the agricultural products grew 1.54% and energy and government-authorized rates, 0.26%.

In June 2024, the monthly change in the underlying and non-core indices was 0.22% and 0.87%, respectively.

In the same month of 2023, it was 0.30 and -0.52 percent.

Chayote price increases by 128%; cost of chile decreases

On the other hand, Inegi announced the variation and incidence of the INPC with generic products having the highest incidence.

During the month of June, the product with the highest incidence with an increase at its price was the chayote, with an increase of 128.58%.

Followed by:

  • Orange: 31.37%
  • Lettuce and cabbage: 21.87%
  • Bananas: 13.98%

On the other hand, prices showed a trend Serrano chili was on the declinewith -27.02%, as well as:

  • Uva: -28.09
  • Poblano pepper: -13.31%
  • Tomato: -12.82%
