A 38-year-old Russian influencer died in Moscow after undergoing buttock augmentation surgery, raising questions about the risks associated with cosmetic procedures. Yulia Burtseva, who had over 70,000 followers on Instagram, passed away on January 4 following a drastic deterioration in her health after the operation.
On Sunday, January 4, the blogger underwent medical and cosmetic procedures. Her condition worsened drastically, and she was hospitalized, but doctors were unable to save her, according to the press service of the Moscow Investigative Committee.
The physician who performed the surgery now faces potential criminal charges, with a possible prison sentence of up to three years if found negligent in the performance of professional duties.
Burtseva, originally from Samara, Russia, had relocated to Italy where she married Giuseppe, a Neapolitan native, five years ago. The couple shared their life in Italy, including photos and videos of their daughter, Sasha, with her online audience.
Her last social media post showcased a visit to the Pushkin cafe for breakfast.
Authorities have indicated that Burtseva suffered anaphylactic shock after the surgery, despite immediate hospitalization.
