A specific proposal was submitted by the Member of Parliament for the Dodecanese, Mr. Manos Konsolas, to Mr. Dimitris Papageorgiou, Rector of the University of the Aegean, which is communicated to the Vice-Chancellors, the Dean and the Chairs of the Departments of the Faculty of Humanities, in order for the University of the Aegean to become a protagonist, not only of education, but also of economic and social development in Rhodes and Kos.
It refers to a holistic plan to upgrade the University of the Aegean with main pillars in the Dodecanese, Rhodes, which must acquire new schools and departments, and Kos, which, until today, is not on the map of University Education, despite the fact that it is the second largest island of the Dodecanese, possessing a large historical capital.
He proposes that there be a broad discussion at the initiative of the University of the Aegean and that the parliamentary representatives of the Dodecanese prefecture, the representatives of the first and second level self-government of the Dodecanese, as well as the local scientific and productive bodies be invited to participate.
“It is important for the University of the Aegean to present its own plan for Rhodes and Kos, to make members of this plan, not only the agencies, but also the local communities, who should embrace a new plan and a new strategy development of the University of the Aegean”, emphasizes Manos Konsolas.
