jpnn.com – After fulfilling and agreeing to the terms regarding censorship and content broadcast, Instagram can finally resume operations in Turkey.

Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the deal in a post on X.

Instagram was blocked for more than a week, with users in the country suddenly losing access on August 2, but no official explanation was given at the time.

However, the block came after Turkey’s Communications Chief Fahrettin Altun accused the platform of censoring posts offering condolences over the death of Ismail Haniyeh, a recently killed Hamas leader.

In a post on Saturday, Uraloglu cited concerns about content related to crimes including murder, sexual assault, drug trafficking and torture, as well as censorship imposed on Instagram users.

NetBlocks, which first reported that Instagram had been blocked in Turkey earlier this month, confirmed on Saturday (August 10) that access was beginning to be restored. (reuters/ant/jpnn)
