These meetings, held in the presence in particular of the ambassador of His Majesty the King in Germany, Zhour Alaoui, examined the means of strengthening cooperation in the field of transport between Morocco, on the one hand, and Germany and the Czechia, on the other hand.
Thus, Mr. Abdeljalil had a meeting with the German Federal Minister of Transport and Digital, Volker Wissing, during which the two parties expressed their satisfaction with the level of collaboration and bilateral cooperation since their first meeting in 2022.
In this context, the two ministers welcomed the finalization of the draft Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of transport, which constitutes the platform for cooperation between Morocco and Germany in rail and air transport and in matters of digitalization.
The two officials also agreed on support and participation in events organized by both sides, in this case the 2nd conference on E-fuel which will be held next month in Berlin, the 3rd E-Fuel conference which will take place in Morocco in 2025 and the 4th global ministerial conference on road safety, scheduled for February 2025 in Marrakech.
Furthermore, the two ministers called for the holding of the meeting of the joint committee on international road transport (TIR) during the year 2024 and for the revision of the quotas for bilateral TIR-goods authorizations.
Finally, the German minister committed to sharing with Morocco his country’s experience in the field of transport digitalization.
Mr. Abdeljalil also had a meeting with the Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic, Martin Kupka, during which the two parties discussed the subject of international road transport and agreed to facilitate the TIR between the two countries, pending finalization of the draft bilateral agreement in this area.
The two ministers also agreed to cooperate and exchange experiences in the field of driving license examinations, particularly in terms of the implementation of legislative and legal procedures.
On the other hand, Mr. Kupka expressed his country’s wish to participate and assist Morocco in the establishment of a railway industry for the production of rolling stock.
A high-level Moroccan delegation, led by Mr. Abdeljalil, is taking part in the work of the Leipzig: Mr. Abdeljalil takes half within the Council of Ministers of the Worldwide Transport Discussion board”>FIT 2024 Summit, which is being held from May 22 to 24 in Leipzig, under the theme “Making transport greener: Let’s stay focused in times of crisis”.
The Moroccan delegation, made up of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and public establishments and companies under supervision, as well as other ministerial departments and public and private organizations, participates in the various ministerial sessions, round tables and conferences of this event, the world’s largest gathering of transport ministers and the first event on transport policy on an international scale.
