Tel Aviv Surprised by the Launch of New Reading Park

Tel Aviv, Israel – In a surprise announcement, Tel Aviv unveiled its newest park, Reading Park, on Wednesday evening. The park, located in the northern coastal area of the city, aims to reclaim the space between the northern bank of the Yarkon River and Tel Baruch Beach. This area was previously occupied by industrial facilities such as Mevnei Industrial, Sde Dov, and the Electric Company.

The development of Reading Park began in 2011, and after months of work by the “Etarim” company, a green park with shaded seating areas has been established. The park marks the beginning of Reading Park in the lighthouse area, offering a unique picnic location with stunning views of the sea and the Yarkon estuary.

The grand opening event, announced only hours before, took place near the Magdalor Cafe, which already boasts a perfect location in the city. To celebrate the launch, a food truck with pizzas and beers was brought in, along with a special performance by the children of Beit The tree for all families.

The park is situated at the meeting point with the Reading Promenade and the Western Reading Park adjacent to the Electric Company mooring. It represents the first step in the development of a complex of old fuel tanks that will eventually become an entertainment center, creating a continuous and diverse coastline in Tel Aviv.

Designed with a sculptural topography, the park features an observation hill that offers panoramic views of the sea, the power plant, and the lighthouse. The park boasts 84 newly planted trees, colorful pergolas, and dozens of benches, providing an inviting and shaded space with grassy areas for maximum comfort. Additionally, plans for a new bicycle path are underway to further enhance the area’s recreational options.

The development of Reading Park is part of Tel Aviv’s ongoing policy to create an extensive and diverse coastline throughout the city. With the transformation of the fuel tanks into cultural and performance complexes, the area is expected to become a national attraction.

The launch of Reading Park was met with excitement and enthusiasm from the local community. Residents and visitors alike can now enjoy this new green oasis in the heart of Tel Aviv, offering a refreshing escape from the bustling city streets.
