Paris, January 16, 2026 — Former footballer Adil Rami, 40, is trading the pitch for the stage, but not before addressing lingering questions about his personal life. During a January 16 appearance on Telematin, the athlete candidly discussed his evolving views on marriage, revealing a past shaped by distrust and a hopeful outlook for the future.
Rami on Love, Loss, and a Changing Perspective
Rami is preparing to debut in The Game of Truth, a comedy by Philippe Lellouche, at the Apollo Théâtre in Paris, starting January 21. The Telematin interview provided a platform for him to address past controversies, including rumors of violence, and to share his thoughts on relationships. When asked about marriage, Rami initially reacted with visible apprehension, stating, “At the moment it crosses my mind but basically I am against marriage because I have a somewhat atypical life.”
He explained that his skepticism stems from past experiences. “I was a mechanic, at the end I worked at the town hall of Fréjus, then I moved into the professional world and there I was hurt by women in the football world,” Rami shared. “I lost confidence in women because I didn’t know if they were with me for me or everything I had around me, so I totally lost confidence and thought marriage was impossible.” However, he acknowledged a shift in his thinking, adding, “I’m thinking about marriages because I hope to find that woman who will make me want to get married, but it’s really very hard for me.”
Past Relationship with Pamela Anderson
The interview also touched upon Rami’s highly publicized two-year relationship with actress Pamela Anderson, which ended in June 2019. Anderson publicly accused Rami of infidelity and domestic violence, alleging he maintained a relationship with his ex-partner, Sidonie Biémont, with whom he shares twins born in September 2016. Rami has consistently denied these accusations. “She hurt me a lot by doing that,” he stated to Purepeople at the time. “It made me mature, it made me grow up. It made me understand a lot of things. I have no regrets, I grew up thanks to her. I have improved in certain areas thanks to her. There you go, I had a great experience.”
