Kochi: The probe team has concluded that Deepu, a Twenty20 activist from East Kambalam, was a political assassin. With the release of the post-mortem report, the collection of evidence intensified. The investigation is being led by the Perumbavoor DySP. The accused will be taken into custody soon.

The FIR of the Kunnathnad police stated that Deepu was harassed due to the political animosity of the CPM. With the release of the post – mortem information, the investigation team came to the conclusion that the East Coast was a political assassination. The post-mortem revealed that Deepu had sustained injuries in two places behind her skull following the brutal beating. He then died of a blood clot in his brain. Deepu’s liver disease also accelerated her death.

The first accused is Zainuddin, a CPM activist. The other accused are Bashir, Abdul Rahman and Abdul Aziz. According to police, Zainuddin grabbed Deepu by the neck, kicked Deepu in the head and other accused in the head and abdomen. All the accused live near Deepu’s house in Chelakulam. The Perumbavoor DySP said the four would be taken into custody soon.
