Apple is reportedly preparing a pembaruan besar for its compact tablet lineup. Generasi berikutnya yang disebut sebagai iPad mini 8 diperkirakan akan hadir pada pengujung tahun ini, dengan membawa berbagai pembaruan fisik yang membedakannya dari versi reguler saat ini. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iPad mini 8 kemungkinan diperkenalkan paling cepat pada Oktober, with the release expected by the end of October. Apple’s compact tablet line is gearing up for a significant structural overhaul, following the presence of flagship iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo devices. Internal software code discovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris reveals detail serta gambar in Apple’s own code pointing directly to the upcoming iPad mini 8.
Apple is reportedly preparing a major upgrade for the iPad mini, with internal code leaks pointing to the inclusion of an OLED display, the unannounced A20 Pro chip, and a relocated landscape camera ahead of a potential October debut.
Internal Apple Code Leaks Hint at Major iPad Mini Upgrade
While the current model features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina LCD screen and an A17 Pro processor—sold starting at US$599 for a Wi-Fi 128GB variant in the United States—the leaked files suggest the next generation will bring much deeper hardware changes than a routine speed upgrade. Apple itself has not announced the tablet.
Display Transition to OLED and Performance Speculation
The most anticipated shift centers on the screen technology. Industry reporting indicate that the iPad mini 8 is expected to move from LCD to OLED, replacing panel LCD with an OLED display. This transition is expected to deliver deeper blacks, higher contrast ratios, richer colors, and a display that may measure slightly larger than the current 8.3 inches, making the small tablet a better choice for watching movies and editing photos.
Yet questions remain regarding refresh rates. While some market rumors have suggested ProMotion with up to 120Hz, one recent report claims the OLED iPad mini could remain at 60Hz, leaving no clear answer for now.
Under the hood, the leaked code specifically highlights the unannounced A20 Pro chip. Equipping the device with an A20 Pro chip would position this rumored processor well ahead of the A17 Pro found in the existing model, serving as the most concrete hardware indicator to date for a product that Apple has yet to officially confirm.
Landscape Camera Layout and Vibration-Based Audio
Beyond internal silicon and display panels, the leaked assets detail physical design adjustments. The leaked code and product images show a rearranged front-facing camera, moving it from the top bezel to the landscape-side bezel, making it the final iPad to transition to this positioning. The volume buttons and power button remain on the top of the device.
The images additionally display a tiny notch carved into the upper edge of the screen glass, resembling the design of an iPhone, which is presumably intended for the speaker.
Expected Timeline and Unresolved Pricing Questions
Reports indicate that the device could launch as early as October, putting the wait, if the window holds, in weeks rather than months. However, Apple has not officially acknowledged the tablet, leaving launch schedules subject to change as part of Apple’s broader hardware preparations ahead of the end of the year.
Cost remains a central variable for consumers weighing a purchase decision. With the current baseline model featuring an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and an A17 Pro chip priced at US$599 for the 128GB Wi-Fi variant in the United States, prospective buyers have more to consider than a routine speed upgrade as they await official word from Apple.
