Bangalore: After the Virat Kohli era, no one will lead the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (Royal Challengers Bangalore). With the completion of the mega star auction (IPL Auction 2022), the discussion is intensifying. The RCB also aimed to find Kohli’s successor to the captaincy at the star auction. King Kohli vacated the Bangalore captaincy last season.

South African batsman Faf Duplessis, who won the first day of the star auction, and Indian veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik are expected to captain the RCB. There are fans who believe that Faf was picked up from Chennai to become the captain. But Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar sees another player in the RCB as the successor to Captain Kohli.

‘Given the captaincy, fans will see another Glenn Maxwell who has never been seen in the IPL. The megastar auctioneer may not mind that Maxie came out with great batting last season. I think it’s good that RCB kept him. We have seen players who score 30-40 runs when the team demands 70-80 runs and get out without completing the mission. But they will show better shot selection if given any task. So if Maxwell is made the captain, he will play better, ”said Sunil Gavaskar.

Mike Hesson said …

‘We have not discussed this yet. The team has three great captains, Glenn Maxwell, Faf Duplessis and Virat Kohli. It is a great pleasure to have these three. Josh Hazlewood is also there when it comes to bowling. So happy with the current team. RCB Cricket Operations Director Mike Hesson said the captain would be discussed after the auction.

Glenn Maxwell was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore before the megastar auction. The Bengaluru franchise has invested Rs 11 crore for Maxi. The other retained players are Virat Kohli (Rs 15 crore) and Mohammad Siraj (Rs 7 crore). Herschelle Patel, Vanindu Hazaranga, Josh Hazelwood, Faf Duplessis, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, Shahbaz Ahmed, David Wiley, Mahipal Lommer, Sherfain Rutherford, Finn Allen, Jason Behrenorddorf, Sardha, , Lavinith Sisodia and Akash Deep were auctioned off.
