While Green’s winning bid exceeded $4 million, a new IPL regulation caps individual player earnings at just under $3 million. The remaining funds from the Knight Riders’ bid will be directed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to support player welfare initiatives.

In 29 IPL matches, he has demonstrated impressive all-round capabilities, averaging 41.6 with the bat at a strike rate of 153.7, including a high score of 100 not out. He has also claimed 16 wickets with an economy rate of 9.07. However, he missed the 2025 season due to back surgery.
Surpassing Starc’s Previous Record
Green’s price tag surpasses that of his Australian teammate, Mitch Starc, who was acquired by the Knight riders for $4 million in 2024. Starc now plays for Delhi Capitals and was not part of this year’s auction.
