Mumbai: The 15th season of IPL (IPL 2022) starts today. In the inaugural match, last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders. The match will start at 7.30 pm in Mumbai.
IPL excitement returns to India after Kovid break The Chennai Super Kings’ arrival in the new edition of the world’s largest T20 league has turned heads. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders are gearing up for the season. When Ravindra Jadeja makes his captaincy debut for Chennai, it will be captain Shreyas Iyer’s first match in the Kolkata jersey. Injured Deepak Chahar and Quarantine Moin Ali will not be available for Chennai. Kolkata will be without Aaron Finch and Pat Cummins.
Despite leaving CSKA captaincy, Dhoni will remain the center of attention. The future of Dhoni’s IPL will depend on his batting form. Chennai will be looking at the bat of debutants Devon Conway, Ruthuraj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu. Dwayne Bravo and Shivam Dubey will balance the team with all-round excellence. At the same time, there are doubts and concerns about Chennai’s bowling prowess.
Kolkata hope for Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Nitish Rana, Sam Billings, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty. Kolkata also have to make up for their defeat in last year’s final.
