The attack was dubbed Operation True Promise

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced that its air force fired dozens of missiles against specific Israeli targets in the occupied territories, the Iranian IRNA agency reported, quoted by BTA.

“The launch of the missiles was undertaken in response to a number of crimes committed by the Zionist regime, including the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the killing of a group of commanders and military advisers of our country in Syria,” the Corps’ statement also said.

An Israeli army spokesman also confirmed that the missiles and drones were fired from Iran.

Tehran called its attack on Israel Operation True Promise. In a statement, Iran’s military confirmed that tonight’s attack was in connection with Israel’s “repeated crimes” – including the April 1 attack on the Iranian consulate, which Iran blamed on Israel. They gave no further details about the nature of the attack, other than to confirm that Iran’s air force had fired “dozens of missiles and drones at specific targets” in Israel, the BBC reported.

Iran earlier said it would punish Israel for its deadly aggression against the country’s diplomatic mission in Syria, carried out in violation of international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, IRNA noted.
