Iran Kidnap Plot: Belgian Deputy Reveals Tehran Abduction Plan

by Ethan Brooks

Belgian-Iranian deputy Darya Safai revealed Monday evening on social network X that Iran planned to remove her, alleging the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps intended to kidnap her via Turkey. Belgian police and security services alerted Safai to the alarming situation concerning her safety, having received “worrying information” that the Iranian regime sought to abduct her and transport her to Tehran.

Safai, a member of the N-VA party, stated, “The Belgian police and security services contacted me on Monday about an alarming situation concerning my security.” She added, “They had received worrying information that the Islamic regime in Iran wanted to take it away from me and take me to Tehran.”

Earlier in July, the Chamber’s external relations committee endorsed a resolution proposal advocating for the designation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization by the European Union. Safai was among the initiators of this text.

“The regime now wants to remove, torture and execute a member of the parliament of a European country. Or use it as a currency of exchange within the framework of its hostage diplomacy,” Safai denounced.

Born in Iran, Safai fled to Belgium in the late 1990s to escape persecution by the regime. “I have a clear message to send to the Iranian regime, to its pathetic attitude and to her criminal acts,” she stated. “When I was a 25-year-old girl, I was imprisoned in your terrible prison. I know very well that you are monsters, I know you torture, violate and murder. And even if I fear for my life, I will never stop fighting for freedom.”
