Nasim Namazi was hanged in Iran at dawn this Friday (29) for “espionage in favor of Israel”, while on Thursday night (28) the death penalty had already been carried out for three other prisoners convicted of the same charge , Vafa Hanareh, Aram Omari and Rahman Parhazo.

After their arrest in 2022, Iranian justice found them guilty of “moharebeh” – enmity against God – and “corruption on earth” for “war crimes and corruption through cooperation with the Zionist regime”.

According to the Tehran court, the four prisoners hanged in Urmia prison, in northwestern Iran, had “committed, as instructed by the Mossad, many actions against the country’s security.”

Among his tasks was identifying members of the Iranian intelligence forces and collecting information about them, in exchange for money from the Israeli secret services for various missions carried out in the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Tehran and Hormozgan.

Six other people involved in the same case were sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The death penalty for another prisoner, also convicted of collaboration with the Mossad, was carried out just two weeks ago in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.

According to the Norwegian-based NGO, ‘Hengaw’, the executions are Iran’s “revenge” against Israel for the death, in recent days in Syria, of Seyed Razi Mousavi, an important member of the Revolutionary Guards.

The case of a member of the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (Pasdaran) killed on Monday (25), in an attack on the Golan Heights, further increased tensions between Iran and Israel, already high due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. .

Tehran called the action “terrorist” and immediately declared that Mousavi’s murder would not go unanswered, promising “revenge” against Israel.

While in recent weeks, the Islamic Republic had already reported, also to the UN, another attack attributed to Israel in Syria, which resulted in the death of two Iranian advisers on December 2.

So far, the previous information has not been officially confirmed, but according to reports, 11 important members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were killed in an attack aimed at Damascus.

The attack hit the Pasdaran while they were at the Syrian capital’s airport to receive a delegation, and during the attack, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in eastern Syria, Nawzat Rashid, was injured.
