Iranian air forces announced the launch of “dozens of missiles and drones” towards Israel, as part of a response to the targeting of the Iranian consulate in Damascus more than a week ago.

Fars News Agency quoted a statement issued by the Iranian Aerospace Forces as saying, “This attack comes in response to numerous crimes committed by the Zionist entity, including the attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and the martyrdom of a group of Iranian military advisors in Syria.”

The agency quoted an informed Iranian source as saying, “The attack is taking place in several stages, and each stage, depending on the situation, will be more severe than the previous stage.”

For its part, Iran’s mission to the United Nations in Lamanshwar announced on the “X” platform that the military action carried out by Iran is based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter regarding legitimate defense, adding, “The matter can be considered closed…but if the Israeli entity commits another mistake, Iran’s response will be much harsher.”

The mission called on the United States to stay away from this conflict between Iran and Israel.

On the other hand, the Israeli army advised, on Sunday, residents in the Golan, Dimona, and Eilat to prepare to go to shelters if necessary, based on a security assessment following Iran’s start of its attack by launching marches towards Israel.

The Israeli army spokesman said that the Iranian drones would take hours to reach Israel.

A senior Pentagon official told Al-Hurra TV that American forces intercepted some marches that were directed at Israel.

The chief spokesman for the Israeli army, Admiral Daniel Hagari, said in a press conference broadcast on television, “Iran launched drones from its territory and from the territory of its agents towards the territory of Israel. We are monitoring the threat in the airspace. Talking about a threat that requires several hours to reach Israeli territory.”
