ABC News quoted US officials as saying, “Indications indicate that Iran may be ready to attack Israel with missile and drone strikes.”

American officials said: “Iran has prepared more than 100 cruise missiles for a possible Israeli strike, and has also prepared a large number of drones over the past week that could be used to carry out the attack on Israel.”

Two American officials also told CNN, “The United States will attempt to intercept any missile launched at Israel if possible.”

An American intelligence official confirmed, “Iran will carry out strikes against multiple targets inside Israel and throughout the region.”

The official added, “The conflict between Iran and Israel would constitute a dangerous escalation that the United States had hoped to avoid.”

In the same context, the Wall Street Journal quoted an informed source as saying, “The Iranian authorities have not yet taken a final decision to attack Israel, and they are continuing to discuss attack plans.”

In addition, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy said: “We are very prepared to attack and defend against any threat. We are in a state of war and we have been on high alert for about six months.”

He added: “The Israeli army continues to closely monitor what is happening in Iran and in various arenas, while constantly preparing to deal with existing and potential threats in coordination with the American army,” adding: “Our forces are prepared and ready at all times and in the face of any scenario.”
