The Iranian news agency IRNA reported this Friday that no significant damage was recorded following the explosions heard overnight in the country.

“Following the activation of air defense in certain regions” of Iran “no significant damage or explosions were recorded,” the agency wrote.

IRNA added that “no information was received regarding the firing of anti-missile defense systems”.

Iranian nuclear facilities in the province of Isfahan are “completely safe”, wrote the Tasnim agency, linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the body responsible for the security of the country’s atomic centers.

The North American television channel ABC News reported, citing a United States official, that Israel had launched an attack against Iran, in response to Iranian fire on Israeli territory.

This information came after Iran indicated the occurrence of “strong explosions” in the province of Isfahan (center), and after Israel announced its intention to respond to the Iranian attacks in the early hours of Sunday.

Iranian authorities have suspended all commercial flights to and from several airports, including Tehran, the Mehr agency said, citing airport authorities.

The Israeli army told the France-Presse news agency that it “at the moment” has no comment on the explosions near a military base. “We have no comment at this time,” said an army spokesman.

Meanwhile, Israel announced that warning sirens had been activated in the Israeli north.
