Iran – Russia – China Joint Military Exercise in Oman Sea; Combating maritime terrorism is the main objective

Jeddah: A joint naval exercise involving various armed forces of Iran, Russia and China began on Thursday with night-time firing on aerial targets. Training of joint military operations against the enemy in Oman Sea. Various branches of the forces are participating in the tri-nation naval exercise named “Combined War Game 2023 in the Maritime Security Belt”.

Iran’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani told the media that the first day of the combined war games on Thursday focused on coordination and cooperation in military operations, rescue operations for victims of pirate attacks and countering terrorist attacks.

“The main focus of the joint military exercise is countering maritime terrorism. Currently, the unjustified presence of some foreign troops in the region is becoming a challenge in the region. This needs to be fixed. Therefore, exercises and trainings that utilize all possible naval and air capabilities will continue to be successful in joint military exercises,” the Iranian military chief added.

The Iranian Navy has conducted several joint war games with its Chinese and Russian counterparts, and the objectives of the exercise are international maritime trade routes, maritime piracy, maritime terrorism, maritime rescue operations, and exchange of experience and information in relief operations and strategic maneuvers.
