Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kananihas “vigorously” condemned the sanctions of the European Union y UK, warning that the country reserves the right to reciprocate “such failed policies”.

“The action of the European Union and the British regime is a sign of their mental inability to adequately understand the realities of Iran, as well as his confusion regarding the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he explained, as reported by the ISNA agency.

After that, the spokesperson for Iranian Diplomacy has assured that his country “reserves the right to correspond to such failed policies and will soon announce the list of new sanctions against human rights violators and promoters of terrorism in the European Union and the United Kingdom“.

The EU adopted this Monday a new round of sanctions against 18 individuals and 19 entities responsible for human rights violations in Iran, for the repression by the authorities of the pro-democratic protests after the death of the young Masha Amini.

With this decision, the Foreign Ministers of the Twenty-seven redouble the pressure against Tehran, with a fourth round of measures in response to the regime’s spiral of violence, who has persecuted protesters and sentenced several to death and executed since last September, when the death of the young Kurdish woman in police custody unleashed a cascade of protests in the country.

For their part, the British authorities also announced sanctions against Tehranafter the execution of the British-Iranian citizen Alireza Akbari for alleged espionage, a battery of measures that affect the ‘number two’ of the Iranian Prosecutor’s Office, Ahmad Fazelian, among others.

After that, The United States joined London and Brusselsdesignating ten individuals and one Iranian entity, in what has been the “ninth round of sanctions directed at the actors responsible for the repression of peaceful protesters since protests began across the country in 2022,” as reported by the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
