Tehran; Court sentences one of Iran’s anti-hijab protesters to death. The accused in the case of setting fire to a government building during the anti-hijab protest was sentenced to death. The action is by the Iranian Revolutionary Court. No further information has been released about the suspect. A resolution was presented in Iran’s parliament demanding the death penalty for those arrested for participating in the country’s hijab protests. This was after the court’s order was supported by 277 of the 290 members of Parliament. This is the first death sentence in the process against those arrested.

The head of Iran’s judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni, said the death penalty would be given to key criminals to deter others from anti-government protests in Iran.

More than 300 people have been killed in the anti-hijab protest that followed the death of Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the moral police in Iran. Thousands of people from different parts of the world supported the anti-hijab protest by cutting their hair and burning their hijab.
