/ The Iranian national team qualified for the semi-finals after defeating its Japanese counterpart 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Cup.
The match kicked off at 2:30 pm on Saturday at Education City Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha. The first half ended with Japan leading Iran 1-0, with a goal scored in the 28th minute by Hidemasa Morita.
In the second half, Iran scored the equaliser in the 55th minute through Mohammad Mohebi, and Iran added its second goal at the last minute from a penalty kick successfully executed by Alireza in the 90+6th minute.
Iran will meet the winner of the quarter-final match between Qatar and Uzbekistan, which will be held this evening, Saturday, at Al Thumama Stadium, next Wednesday, in the semi-finals.
