Escalation Threats and the End of Restraint
Rezaei stated that Iran has exercised restraint thus far to prevent the conflict from expanding into a broader regional and international crisis. He accused the United States of miscalculating by turning the war into a regional one and warned that if anti-Iran actions continue, the scope of the war will expand, including the deployment of additional military capabilities such as ground forces. The United States must wait for expanded waves of missile and drone attacks,
Rezaei said, while also cautioning Washington against any ground operation against Iran. He noted that even at the current stage, Iran’s responses to U.S. attacks have been very heavy,
and the intensity of Iranian military operations will increase in the coming days.
Rezaei specifically cautioned Washington against any ground-based operations, while simultaneously calling on regional neighbors—including Kuwait, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar—to assist in de-escalation efforts. These comments follow seven consecutive nights of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) strikes aimed at degrading Iran’s military infrastructure.
Ongoing U.S. Strikes and Regional Infrastructure Impact
CENTCOM has maintained a consistent tempo of operations, utilizing fighter jets, drones, and warships to target Iranian military assets. The command stated that the strikes are designed to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities at the Commander in Chief’s direction.
Recent strikes have focused on coastal surveillance systems, air defense sites, and logistics infrastructure. On Thursday night, CENTCOM completed a major wave of strikes, launching precision munitions that hit dozens of targets.
Iranian media reported that the strikes targeted a wide array of objectives, including Iranshahr Airport, a railway station in Bandar Abbas, and the bridge connecting Bandar Abbas to Shiraz. The operational goal, as stated by the U.S. military, remains degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping.
In line with this objective, CENTCOM confirmed the destruction of a surveillance tower at the Chah Bahar Shahid Kalantari Port. Residents in the port city of Bandar Abbas, Bushehr province, and on Qeshm Island, as well as in Sirik, reported hearing explosions as the campaign persists.
Incidents in the Strait of Hormuz
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz remain a primary driver of the current conflict. On Friday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Iranian forces targeted a violating
Thai-flagged vessel. According to an informed military source cited by Tasnim, the ship attempted to navigate the strait without obtaining the necessary authorization from the Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and failed to respond to multiple warnings.

While the military situation intensifies, the diplomatic outlook remains opaque. Despite the persistent strikes, President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran is interested in reaching a deal with his administration. However, he has also signaled that U.S. military pressure will continue to escalate—specifically targeting key infrastructure—unless Tehran engages in serious negotiations.
For now, the region is watching to see if the offensive and destructive
phase described by Rezaei results in a measurable change in Iranian military tactics or if the current cycle of air strikes and regional warnings will persist into the coming week.
