The device differentiates itself from mainstream foldables through premium materials like calfskin leather and a bespoke Hermes Agent AI system designed to automate complex, multi-step business workflows.

Vertu is not attempting to win a specifications race against mass-market flagships like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Oppo Find N6, or Honor Magic V6. Instead, the company is positioning the device as a status symbol for the ultra-wealthy. The Alphafold, which starts at $6,880 for the calfskin-covered version, features a body adorned with genuine calf leather and titanium details. For those seeking further exclusivity, an alligator skin version costs $8,880, while bespoke models featuring 18K gold start at $13,800. It is possible to pay as much as $34,200 for a top-tier configuration of the device.
The packaging reflects this commitment to a luxury experience, arriving in a large, jewelry-box-style case. Inside, the device is accompanied by a leather pouch and charging cables stored in separate drawers. Despite the premium aesthetic, the device weighs 264 grams, making it significantly heavier than the 215-gram Samsung flagship. The Hermes Agent and Executive Workflow
The core value proposition for the Alphafold is the Hermes Agent, an AI system built on the open-source Hermes project. Unlike standard digital assistants that primarily respond to simple queries, the Hermes Agent is designed to execute multi-step workflows on the user’s behalf. This includes capabilities such as analyzing documents and spreadsheets, reviewing contracts, planning business trips, and performing complex tasks across multiple applications. If the AI cannot complete a task, the system is programmed to automatically forward the request to a human concierge.
The device comes with 24 months of access to Vertu’s concierge, a service combining AI and human assistance. While the Hermes Agent is included for Alphafold buyers, the company notes that certain features, such as specialized legal AI and specific dashboards, will require additional investment.
