/ Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian confirmed on Friday that Iran has informed the United States since the beginning of the crisis in Gaza that “war is not the solution,” while pointing out that Hezbollah has played an effective deterrent role.

“Hezbollah and the resistance in Lebanon have bravely and wisely carried out their effective deterrent role,” Amir Abdollahian told reporters at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri Airport.

He said that Iran will continue its “strong support for the resistance in Lebanon, as we consider Lebanon’s security to be the security of Iran and the region.”

The Iranian foreign minister is expected to meet Lebanese officials and hold talks with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Hezbollah began launching attacks on the border between Lebanon and Israel on October 8 after 17 years of relative calm, and a day after Hamas launched its attack on southern Israel that sparked the Gaza war.

Hezbollah officials said they would document the attack on Israeli military points when the Israeli offensive on Gaza ended.
