nbsp; Cairo – INA The representative of Iraq in the Arab Women’s Organization handed over the presidency of the session of its Supreme Council to the representative of the Sultanate of Oman. The organization held its eighth session at the first ladies level, headed by Sheikha Aisha bint Khalfan bin Jameel Al Siyabiyah, representative of the Sultanate of Oman and President of the Arab Women’s Organization in its eighth session. The representative of Iraq at the meeting, Mayor of Baghdad, Dhikra Alloush, handed over the presidency of the session to the representative of the Sultanate of Oman after conveying to those gathered the greetings and blessings of Mrs. Ronak Abdul Wahed, wife of the President of the Republic, Fuad Masum. During her speech, Alloush pointed out “women’s suffering from terrorism, violence, and wars, but she stressed the importance of the Iraqi victory in eliminating injustice and oppression against women, ending the era of darkness and abuse of women in the Arab region, protecting their rights, and ensuring equality with men.” Alloush praised “the work of the Arab Women’s Organization and expressed Iraq’s pride in chairing the work of the organization’s seventh session and working with a distinguished system of Arab women over the past years.” For her part, the head of the Arab Women’s Organization, Mervat Al-Talawi, said, “This meeting comes in the context of a delicate stage in the history of the Arab region, given the threats that surround it, the greatest threat of which comes from the announcement of the United States of America to move its embassy to Jerusalem and the declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which will lead to a new phase of “Violence and instability in the region, as well as terrorism, which is escalating and changing its form and location in the Arab countries.” Al-Talawi added, “Women, as active members, bear great sacrifices and many burdens and are the most affected by these threats, wars and armed conflicts. The meeting will discuss the role of women in combating widespread terrorist ideas and their role in supporting Arab solidarity.”
