Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced today, Saturday, that a meeting will soon be held in Baghdad, including Syrian and Turkish officials, to discuss the Syrian crisis.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said in a television statement from Washington, followed by the (INA), that “there is an initiative from Iraq to mediate between Ankara and Damascus, and communication is ongoing in this area,” noting that “he met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Washington in order to arrange a meeting in Baghdad with the Syrian side.”
He continued, “There is also continuous communication from Iraq with the Syrian side, and a date will be set for holding this meeting in Baghdad,” indicating that “Iraq does not take the green light from others, but we discuss with friends and allies the steps we are taking, especially those related to the security and stability of the region.”
